Fruits Of My Labours (Well, Plants)

March 24th, 2009

Today I bought a new plant pot.  As I finished putting the last of the soil in with the new plant, I noticed a sticker inside the new pot saying it was specially designed!  To fit!  A standard sized pot!  Pot?  I just put in dirt and a plant.  Hmmm.

This enabled me to pass the pot that this plant used to be in to the plant one sized down, as follows:

And, channeling Marx who said from each according to his ability and to each according to his need, I gave that plant’s pot to the plant yet another size down:

I am sure  by now the pattern is totally predictable so I will spare another explanation but can you guess where the pot in this next picture came from?

Also, the plant is new.  It cost less than two dollars!  Good deal!

Finally, here is my cactus:

Notice the bright green growth on top?  If you want a nice healthy cactus like mine, here is what you do: Buy cactus.  Water generously.  Notice that it is dying.  Add more water.  Observe cactus fail to improve.  Fret and wring hands for a month until it is apparent that there is no hope for the cactus.  Put it outside on the patio and forget about it for about six months over the winter season.  After about three months, notice the cactus has been knocked over by wind and is lying on its side in a puddle of cold rain.  Shrug.  Wait for March – notice cactus looks great!  Bring it back indoors, put it in a fresh pot, water less generously.  Voila!
