Sloth: I Haz It

April 7th, 2009

Do you ever have one of those day where you just fail to accomplish anything, despite your best efforts?  Today is that day for me.  It started when I woke up at 5am last night in the middle of a serious allergy attack.  If you are easily grossed out I suggest you skip to the next paragraph because I am about to be indelicate: My eyes were watering and I was sneezing over and over and over and suddenly my sinuses began producing mucus at a prodigious rate.  I had to leap out of bed and run for a kleenex with snot running rather freely down my face not once nor twice but three times in about half an hour.  You’d think I’d have grabbed a roll of toilet paper to put by the bed but what can I say, I don’t do my best thinking at the crack of dawn.  It is very disorienting to go from peacefully sleeping to suddenly finding your facial orifices have exploded and I did not cope well.

So by the time I had finished taking an antihistamine and running around the apartment and then finally settling back down to sleep, it was close to 6:30.  Husband woke me on his way to work to say goodbye, I fell back to sleep, and didn’t get up until 9.  And then my failures to be productive really ramped up: I ate breakfast (a bowl of salsa – what, don’t you?), fiddled around online, then went back to bed, where I couldn’t fall back asleep but felt too tired to actually get up.  I rolled around in bed until finally hunger drove me to uprightness and I made lunch, read in the tub, and now here I am: it is nearly 12:30 and I have behaved like an indifferent sultan in the harem rather than like a student and housewife with a million things to do.

Anybody want to come over and do my laundry?
